Chapter One:  The Accident

“I’m sorry Mr. And Mrs. Saotome, we’ve done all we can.” The doctor told them in a tone that told of a disappointment in herself. “Even if there is a slight chance, I’m afraid your son may never walk again.”

Nodoka cried her eyes out as Genma did the best he could to console her. They’d been dreading this news for the past seven hours while they waited in the hospital waiting room with the Tendo family. In a way, the gods of irony must have been smiling this day, as for all he’d been through the Wild Horse of Nerima was taken down, by a simple accident.

He and Akane had been going to school as usual, when Akane told them he’d spotted a child about to be run over by a car of some sort. Being the selfless hero he was, while Akane watched, Ranma ran to the child and pushed him to safety. Unfortunately he didn’t move as the car slammed full into him and the driver continued to drive away. Akane watched in shock for a few minutes she told them, before trying to find a phone to call for help.

After all the challenges Ranma had overcome. From fighting Amazons, Rivals who turned into pigs and ducks, perverted martial artists, delusional kendoists and even Phoenix Gods, to have this happen. To finally be taken down, by a simple hit and run accident was a shock.

“Genma old friend, what do we do?” Soun Tendo asked Genma. “Ranma will never be able to inherit the Saotome School now.”

“Indeed old friend.” Genma replied. “It appears I will have to find a new heir to the school.”

“So I’m no longer engaged to the pervert?” Akane asked actually having the gall to sound thrilled. “Good enough for me.”

“I can’t believe you!!!” A voice suddenly spoke up. A voice filled with tears and regret.

What shocked the three of them was that they had been spoken by none other, then the Ice Queen herself Nabiki Tendo.

“The doctor told us there was a chance he’ll never walk again!!” Nabiki practically screamed at them. Luckily, she composed herself remembering she was in a hospital. “A chance! But you three want to just give up on him and move on to someone new!”

“My husband brings up a valid point.” Nodoka responded finally gaining control of herself. “While I pray my son will heal, there is only a slight chance he can walk again. We must prepare for the event it does not happen.”

“I can’t believe I’m hearing this!” Nabiki objected. “What kind of mother are you anyway? Not a very good one by the looks of it!”

“Nabiki!” Soun chastised her. “Show respect to your elders!”

“I show respect to those who deserve it!” Nabiki told her father as she turned her back on them.

“Calm yourself Soun.” Nodoka told the head of the Tendo family as he seemed about to chastise again. “This is an emotional time and we are all feeling it. Some of us might say things we’ll regret later.”

“I regret nothing.” Nabiki stated feeling that line was directed at her.

“Never the less, we should table this discussion for now.” Nodoka continued. “Ranma still needs our support.”

“Some support, taking what he’s been working for all this time.” Nabiki muttered silently.

“Now, let us see Ranma.” Nodoka stated. “It is best that he be informed of this decision.”

Nodoka, Soun and Genma walked down the hall towards Ranma’s room leaving the three Tendo sisters behind.

“What’s with you Nabiki?” Akane asked when the adults (If you want to call them that.) were out of earshot. “You should be happy to have that pervert out of our lives.”

“You! You’re the one responsible for this in the first place!” Nabiki accused. “That was a piece of bullshit you told them and you know it!”

“W…What’re you talking about?” Akane asked nervously.

“Yes, what do you mean Nabiki?” Kasumi asked finally speaking up.

“Akane claimed he rescued a child.  But I Saw The Whole Thing!” Nabiki stated with emphasize on the whole thing part.

“Ranma said you looked nice, you called him a pervert, hit him with your mallet and into that car!!!”

“Akane!” Kasumi exclaimed. “You didn’t?”

“I did not!” Akane responded defensively. “Why does everyone take the perverts side? How could you even see anything? You left before we did!”

“I stopped to meet some friends of mine.” Nabiki replied which obviously was a lie. She seemed to be hiding something, but Kasumi decided not to pursue it.

“Whatever.” Akane replied as she stormed down the hall in a huff.

“I can’t believe them!” Nabiki said as she looked at Kasumi. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“I was in shock.  I can’t believe those…those…” Kasumi said having trouble finding the words.

“Assholes. Jerks. Sons of…” Nabiki offered.

“That will do.” Kasumi chastised her sister for rude language. “I can’t believe after all he’s done for us, they would willingly turn their backs on him.”

“Well I’m not!” Nabiki proudly proclaimed. “He needs me. Now more then ever he’ll need me.”

Kasumi thought she recognized a bit of emotion in Nabiki’s words. Emotions, that usually weren’t there. She was about to ask about it, when a cry filled the air.

“MOUKO TAKABASHI!!!” The voice of Ranma Saotome yelled followed by an explosion.

Nabiki and Kasumi looked at each other concerned and hurried down the hall. When they reached Ranma’s room, they found two things. Genma Saotome lying across the hall looking like he was on the receiving end of a ki attack. The second was a Genma shaped hole in the wall to Ranma’s room. Inside the room, arguing could be heard.

“That was uncalled for Ranma!” Nodoka’s voice objected.

The two Tendo sisters quietly entered the room to watch what transpired.

“I don’t give a shit!”  Ranma told her lying in his hospital bed. “All my life I’ve trained to be the heir to the Saotome school, and now that there is a slight chance I’ll never walk again, you take it form me!”

“Now Ranma, honor demands…” Soun began to say.

“Don’t preach to me about your one sided view of honor!” Ranma yelled. “I’ve had it up to here with your views! Get the hell outta here before I give you what the panda got!”

“Don’t yell at my father like that!” Akane yelled preparing for a mallet attack.

“Mouko Takabashi!!” Ranma yelled preparing to knock the Tendo heir on her ass.

“Enough!” Nodoka said. “I can see you will need some time to calm down. We’ll return later.”

“No you won’t.” Ranma replied coldly. “Because I never want to see you again!”

“Excuse me?” Nodoka responded in shock.

“I renounce the Saotome name and all that comes with it.” Ranma told her. “I am Ranma, a ronin.”

“Ranma!” Nodoka exclaimed. “Think about what your saying my son!”

“I am not your son. Not anymore.” Ranma told her. “Now leave. I hope I never see you again in my life.”

Nodoka quietly left the room with the help of Soun. She now cried of sorrow. She had lost her son again, but this time, she would never see him again.

“You jerk!” Akane exclaimed. “How could you do that to your own mother?”

“She’s nobody’s mother anymore.” Ranma replied. “Now leave miss Tendo, unless you’d like to leave via the window.”

“Akane!” Kasumi stated as she recognized the coming of a mallet attack. “Go home now!”

“But…” Akane objected.

“If you touch him I’ll have you in an arranged marriage to Kuno so fast it’ll make your head spin!” Nabiki told her in true Ice Queen fashion.

Akane, upset that they were against her, left the room.

“You realize she’d probably gonna cry to daddy about what just happened?” Nabiki asked her sister.

“As far as I’m concerned they can all drop dead.” Kasumi responded shocking both Ranma and Nabiki. “I’ve overlooked her behavior before, but not anymore.”

Nabiki smiled proudly at her older sister. She was finally back to the way she was before their mother died. Nabiki felt prouder then she’d ever felt in her life. Then she approached Ranma.

“So, how’re you holding up?”  Nabiki asked him with a concerned voice.

“I…I…it’s over.” Ranma told her tears filling his eyes. “I’ll never be able to use the arts again.”

“That’s the talk of a quitter!!!” Nabiki objected. “I won’t hear you talk like that!”

“Nabiki!?” Ranma replied looking at her.

“The Ranma I know is not a quitter!” Nabiki continued. “The Ranma I know isn’t afraid of anything! He fights every enemy until he stands over them triumphant! Are you a coward?”

“I ain’t no coward!!” Ranma objected.

“The fight!” Nabiki told him compassionately. “Fight and win. Defeat your enemies once again. Prove that Ranma Sao…the ronin is undefeatable!!”

“What enemy?” Ranma asked confused.

“This is your enemy!” Kasumi responded pointing at Ranma’s now unmovable legs. She quickly caught on what Nabiki was trying to do. “Self doubt is your enemy! Weakness is your enemy! Those people who just left this room are your enemy! So defeat them one more time.”

“Fight Ranma!” Nabiki told him. “Fight, and know I’ll always be there for you.”

“We both will.” Kasumi stated.

“Thank you.” Ranma told them as tears not of sadness, but happiness filled his eyes. He needed this. “Thank you both so much.”

Just then the good doctor who informed them of Ranma’s condition, stuck her head in the room.

“Excuse me?” She said getting their attention. “I’m sorry, but this patient needs his rest now.”

“We understand.” Nabiki replied respectfully. She then turned to Ranma and kissed him on the forehead. “We have to go know Ranma, but we’ll be back tomorrow.”

“Thank you.” Ranma said as they left the room and he finally went to sleep.

“I’d like to thank you as well.” The doctor told them as they stepped out into the hallway. “After what just happened, he needed someone’s support.”

“We’ll always be there for Ranma.” Kasumi told him. “He’s always been there for us.”

“Doc, that’s a real special patient you got in that room.” Nabiki stated as she pulled several thousand yen out of her wallet and gave it to him. “Take good care of him.”

“Keep your money.” The doctor told her putting the yen back in Nabiki’s hand. “I owe that young man my life. This is my chance to repay him.”

“Oh my!” Kasumi said. “You know Ranma?”

“Yes.” The doctor replied. “Several months ago I was working late and my car broke down on the way home. I ended up walking through a very dangerous neighborhood trying to find a phone. Eventually, I ended up finding myself surrounded by a local street gang. I’ll never know what could have happened that night, because before the leader could even touch me, that young man arrived and single handedly fought them off. He then took time out of his schedule to walk me to a phone, then back to my car to wait for the tow truck.”

“Yeah, Ranma’s pretty cool that way.” Nabiki said with a smile on her face. “May I ask your name miss?”

“Kinoko Hikari.” The doctor told them. “You can call me Kinoko. All my friends do.”

“Thank you.” Nabiki and Kasumi said bowing in respect to her. “We are honored to have met you.”

“Not as honored as I am to have met you.” Kinoko responded bowing back to them.

Nabiki and Kasumi then left the hospital. As they did, they talked.

“Oh shit!”  Nabiki suddenly exclaimed as she looked down. “I left my purse in Ranma’s room. I gotta go back and get it.”

“Okay. I’ll wait in the lobby for you.” Kasumi replied as they turned around and walked back.

Nabiki hopped into the elevator and got off on Ranma’s floor. She re-entered his room and found him sleeping. Nabiki smirked as she tried to sneak up on him only to find him awake.

“Can I help you Nabiki?” Ranma asked as he sat up by pulling himself up by his hands.

“Are you really feeling okay Ran-kun?” Nabiki asked concerned.

“As well as can be expected.” Ranma assured her.

“What about this?” Nabiki asked as she reached under the sheet and started stroking his manhood.

Within seconds it stood erect in all its glory.

“Looks like it still works.” Ranma replied with a smirk. “Wanna do it?”

“Kasumi is waiting for me so I don’t have enough time.” Nabiki said regretfully. “But I can do other things.”

With that said she pulled the curtains around his bed shut and lifted his sheets. She then started to slowly lick and his cock. Then she took it into her mouth and proceeded to give him the mother of all blowjobs. Ranma moaned at the pleasures she caused as he rested his left hand on her head while his right reached inside her school blouse and played with her breasts. Eventually he felt himself reach the point of no return Nabiki stopped and looked lovingly into his eyes.

“Let me have it baby.” Nabiki told him as she put his prick back into her mouth and seconds later he came.

Nabiki quickly swallowed every drop of his semen like it was a life giving elixir. When she finished she looked at him and smiled.

“Feel better Ranma?” Nabiki asked smiling.

“Oh yeah.” Ranma replied smiling. “Want me to do you?”

“I gotta get going Ran-kun.” Nabiki said sadly. “But I’ll be back early tomorrow and we’ll see what happens.

“Deal.  See you then.” Ranma said as they shared a passionate kiss.

Nabiki then got up from the bed and grabbed her purse from where she’d left it deliberately and hurried downstairs. She found Kasumi sitting on a bench.

“What took so long?” Kasumi asked curiously.

“Ranma needed…cheering up some more so I talked to him for a bit.” Nabiki replied with a strange smirk and the words ‘cheering up’.

Kasumi noticed this but decided not to mention it. She did notice Nabiki had a strange white stain on the corner of her mouth that wasn’t there when they’d arrived at the hospital. They left the hospital for the second time and began discussing their plans to deal with the Tendo’s.

“What’ll we do when we get home?” Kasumi asked curious.

“I have an idea.” Nabiki told her as she explained it.

“Sounds good to me.” Kasumi said. “We’d best prepare then.”

Five hours later, the two Tendo sisters returned home.  It didn’t take them long too get caught up and what had transpired in their absence. First the Amazons gave up their claim on Ranma, because he could no longer be a warrior and were preparing to leave for China. Ukyo didn’t have any response because she was out of town. The Kuno’s had mixed reactions.

Tatewaki Kuno praised heavens justice for dealing with the foul sorcerer. Kodachi Kuno merely weeped for her deceased love, even though he wasn’t dead. Principle Kuno just played his ukulele, oblivious to reality.

But the Tendo household was what really sickened Nabiki and Kasumi. Soun and Genma were celebrating the joining of the schools. Apparently Genma had named Ryoga Hibiki as his new heir, and Akane accepted the engagement to him.  Nodoka didn’t even speak. She was still in shock over the loss of her son.

Nabiki and Kasumi started to go in their separate ways to prepare the last part of their plan when Soun approached Kasumi.

“Kasumi, today is a day of celebration.” Soun told her. “Can you fix something special for dinner tonight?”

“Special?” Kasumi stated. “The day of Ranma’s accident is a day of celebration?”

“Now, now Kasumi. The boy will see reason and apologize when he sees this is in everyone’s best interests.” Soun assured her.

“Very well father.” Kasumi told him to Nabiki’s surprise. “I promise dinner will be special.”

“Excellent. Also, you should apologize to Akane for whatever you said at the hospital.” Soun said. “Whatever it was upset her very much.”

“Of course father.” Kasumi said. “Could you tell her to meet me in the kitchen?”

“Right away.” Soun responded walking off.

“What’re you doing?” Nabiki demanded to know as she followed her older sister into the kitchen.

“Watch and learn.” Kasumi told her as Akane walked into the kitchen.

“You wanted to talk to me Kasumi.” Akane asked.

“Yes.  I wanted to apologize for my harsh words at the hospital.” Kasumi told her. “Please forgive me.”

“Of course.” The spoiled brat tomboy answered. “I can’t stay mad at you sis.”

“Thank you Akane.” Kasumi said.  Before Nabiki could speak up, she continued. “Oh, by the way. I’ve a few errands to run and I’m afraid I won’t be able to cook dinner this evening. Would you be a dear and make it?”

“I’d be delighted!” Akane said as she went to work.

The sounds of what appeared to be cooking, but were questionable, filled the air as Nabiki and Kasumi left the kitchen.

“Sis, you are evil!” Nabiki confessed with a chuckle.

“Whatever do you mean?” Kasumi asked sarcastically. “Father wanted something special for dinner and every time Akane cooks it is ‘special.’”

“Sure Kasumi.” Nabiki stated while trying to keep from laughing out loud.

“Let’s get ready.” Kasumi told her as they went upstairs.

When suppertime finally arrived, everyone sat at the table. Soun at the head, with Nodoka, who still hadn’t spoke and Genma on the left, and Ryoga on the right. Akane and Nabiki were missing, but he figured they had a good reason. His mouth watered at the idea of one of Kasumi’s special meals. He wondered what she made. He sniffed the air for a clue, and suddenly felt the urge to vomit. Something wasn’t right here.

That was when a sight more scarier than the master appeared. There stood Akane in the kitchen doorway, wearing an apron and carrying several plates of what appeared to be food. Food, she had obviously cooked herself by any indication. Especially the glowing green and red soup, at least he thought it was until Akane told him it was a casserole. Plus he swore the roast chicken was staring at him.

“Akane, why did you cook dinner tonight?” Genma finally felt brave enough to ask.

“Kasumi said she had some things to do and asked me to cook.” Akane replied as she scooped a gray and purple sludge of some sort on to a plate, which even now, was slowly dissolving along with the ladle. “Dig in everyone!”

“Excuse me a moment.” Soun said getting up from the table and left the room.

As soon as he was far enough away, he ran for all he was worth. The only way Kasumi would get Akane to cook would be if she were deathly ill. He quickly headed up the stairs and entered Kasumi’s room.

“Kasumi!  I’m here for…” Soun started to say heroically when he froze at what he saw.

The entire room and been picked clean. The closet lay open and bare. Dresser drawers lay open and empty. Even Kasumi’s always neatly made bed had its sheets and blankets removed from it. The only thing that remained, was a note addressed to him on the bed. He picked it up and read what was written.

Dear Father,

I am ashamed of your treatment of Ranma. He has always been there for us and when he needs us, you pull this crap! I am ashamed to call you my father. Then you wish to celebrate? What are you thinking? As you have discovered, I have left and am not planning to return. As Ranma has done to his family, so do I do the same! I am no longer Kasumi Tendo. I am Kasumi Kannagi, my mother’s maiden name. I hope you see the light of reason, but you haven’t done that since mother passed away.

Yours Sincerely,

Kasumi Kannagi

P.S. How was dinner?

Soun Tendo couldn’t believe what he had just read. Kasumi had actually just left them like they were nothing. Couldn’t she see that this was the only honorable path they could take? He had to find her and make her see reason.  He quickly went to Nabiki’s room, knowing if anyone could find her it would be his middle child.

However, when he opened the door to her room he was treated to a familiar sight. Nabiki’s room, like Kasumi’s, had been picked clean. Only this time, besides a note, a large box was left as well. Soun opened the note addressed to him, already knowing what it would say.

Dear Soun

If your reading this, then you now know that Kasumi and myself have left. If you don’t, then you did something unpredictable by coming here first. It’d be the first time you ever paid attention to me in a long time anyway.

I am also disgusted with the way you have treated Ranma and as such am renouncing my name. I am now Nabiki Kannagi and am proud of it. While Kasumi hopes you wise up, I hope never to look upon you again.

Enclosed in the box are the finances of the Tendo family in its entirety, including the debts owed to the bank, market and several liquor stores. Have fun paying them.

Nabiki Kannagi

Soun looked at this letter in shock. Why couldn’t his children see reason? They had no choice. Honor demanded this course of action. He would have to make them see the error of their ways. He didn’t know how or when, but he knew they would return. After all, where else did they have to go?

“Nabiki, are you sure we can afford this place?” Kasumi asked her little sister as she finished unpacking in her new room.

She’d been amazed when Nabiki had announced their new home would be this condo, but was pleased she’d found a place this fast. Now she wondered how she planned on paying for it.

“Of course we can.” Nabiki assured her. “We’ll actually be living here for free.”

“Free!?” Kasumi exclaimed shocked. “How did you pull that off?”

“Well…I kinda…own the building.” Nabiki confessed.

“You own this building!?” Kasumi replied. “How do you own a building?”

“I invested money into the construction of these condos.” Nabiki explained. “Things were going great, until the investors started losing money. So I bought all their rights to the building for a song, fixed it up using those contractors who always fix the dojo cheap, and started renting rooms.”

“Oh my!” Kasumi said. “So how much do you make off of this place?”

“Well, on this building I make, (Enclose amount you think is reasonable here.) a month.” Nabiki told her. “I started to realize what an investment Real Estate was and started investing more money into homes, apartments and such. People always need a place to live and I make more money on this then I do on those old businesses in high school I used to do. Plus it’s all legal.”

“I’m impressed.” Kasumi told her. “But I’m not sure I feel right taking a condo from someone who might need it.”

“Actually, I’ve had this condo for about six months now.” Nabiki responded then quickly realized her mistake and tried to change the subject. “Let’s go get some dinner!”

“Hold it!” Kasumi objected as Nabiki tried to get away from her. “Don’t change the subject! Why did you feel the need to own a private condo?”

“Well, I kinda use it to be alone with…” Nabiki explained whispering the last part.

“What was that?” Kasumi asked.

“Ranma okay.” Nabiki spoke up. “I use it when me and Ranma want to be alone together.”

“Alone? Oh my!” Kasumi replied. (Is it just me or does she say that a lot?) “Is that proper?”

“Why wouldn’t I want to be alone with Ranma?” Nabiki responded. “We’ve been married for a year now.”

“Married!?” Kasumi exclaimed. “When did this happen?”

“Well, it’s a long story.” Nabiki told her. Kasumi replied that she had the time. “Okay, have a seat and I’ll tell you the whole story.”

The two of them sat down on the leather sofa and Nabiki prepared to tell Kasumi a story that began when she was fourteen years old.

To be continued…

Author’s Notes 2: Well, that’s it for Chapter One. I hope you all liked it. In Chapter Two we begin where this one ended.  Nabiki tells a tale of love and secrets. As well as one of the last times that Ranma and herself were alone in this very condo. Also we see a side of Kasumi we never knew existed. It’s Chapter Two: Secrets to Tell. Until then See-ya, ciao, hasta la vista and bye bye.  You all don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here. (Hehehe, always wanted to say that.)
