This is based on the Ranma 1/2 characters which I don't own and will never own. This story is written for fun gratuitous sex so the characters may be ooc although I did try to stay in character as much as possible. This story is an alternative universe of the "An Akane to Remember" episode. This deals with what might have happened in the battle with the Orochi. Critiques as well as compliments or suggestions as well. Also as this is a lemon, it should not be by minors or anyone who may be offended by such material.
An Akane to Pleasure
"RANMA!!"
Ranma looked down as he tried to dodge another bolt of flame. He could see Akane was looking at him with fear in her eyes as he tried dodging the multi-headed dragon. "Have to admit, I'm in serious trouble here." Ranma thought as he managed to avoid another bite that might had maimed him if it connected. Ranma took a quick glance around him to weigh his options and assets. He didn't want Akane to get involved again as she had nearly been drowned a few minutes ago. Shinnosuke looks to be recovering with his grandfather, but Ranma was pretty sure they wouldn't be enough. Glancing a little higher, Ranma saw 'P-chan' running into the woods with his kettle. "Damn, I could really use his help, but I'd still be female if Akane hadn't thrown the water on me earlier." Jumping off of a rock, Ranma launched a powerful kick at one of the creature's head. Ranma heard a grunt come from the creature, but not much more. "I'd rather fight Herb again than this thing!" Ranma said in exasperation.
Akane watched with apprehension as Ranma continued to dodge the Orochi. She wanted to help Ranma so badly but couldn't think of a way to do so. She had succeeded in getting the moss to Shinnosuke, but now had to think of a way to stop the rampaging beast. Akane turned to her other companions, "Isn't there anything we can do?"
Shinnosuke stood up ready to join Ranma in battle, when his grandfather grabbed him by the shoulder. "Wait! Even if you go you won't make a difference right now."
Shinnosuke brushed him off, "Maybe not, but I can't let him fight that thing alone!" he cried and with that he bounded towards Ranma.
Shinnosuke's grandfather shook his head sadly, then looked at Akane and gasped. "Akane-kun, that horn you have around your neck, where did you get that?"
Akane reached up and grasped the horn, "Shinnosuke gave this to me the last time I was here in Ryugenzawa. Can it help?"
The old man hopped up and down excitedly, "Of course it can, all you have to do is blow the horn and it should put the creature back to sleep! Play it quickly!"
Akane put the horn up to her lips and blew into it. An eerie tune played out of it, causing the Orochi to stop and look at Akane. The creature's eyes took on a glassy state and then the creature slowly dropped its heads into the water. Akane breathed a sigh of relief as the creature thrashing became still. Ranma and Shinnosuke both collapsed, feeling drained from their exertions. Akane and the old man walked over to the two boys to give what help she could. Suddenly, a green pillar of light shot up from the lake shooting all the way into the sky. A dozen snakelike heads burst out of the water, looking up into the heavens and crying out. It looked like the Orochi with some striking differences. The snakelike bodies were a lot smaller and thinner than the original creature, although they seemed to move in a more fluid and uniform manner. Also, instead of dragon heads, this creature had female heads that had green hair and glowing green eyes. Ranma couldn't help but shudder at the amount of power this creature was generating. No one could move as they watched in wonder and amazement of the sight before them.

Ryouga danced around nervously as he awaited the water inside the kettle to boil. He know that Akane was still in danger and that he needed to help her. Unfortunately, he couldn't really do anything as a pig right now. Then Ryouga saw the bright pillar of light appeared and felt a wave of power emanate from it. "It's like my perfect Shi-Shi Hoko Dan." he thought. Prancing his little hoofs around the kettle, he eagerly awaited his chance to assist.

Back in Nerima, Cologne watched with amusement as her granddaughter verbally spared with Ranma's third fiancée. "Muko-Dono certainly does have a lot of admirers doesn't he Mousse?" she chuckled at the Amazon male who was cleaning at the floor and watching with a scowl on his face.
"That Casanova will never marry my beloved, no matter what schemes you cook up, you old mummy." Mousse cried at Cologne in defiance. Well, he thought it was at Cologne, but he was actually shouting at a Cat statue. Still, the Matriarch thought it only proper to whack the insolent boy for his insult. Twirling her staff, she knocked him straight through the wall. "Make sure you have that wall fixed before the customers come, Mr. Part Timer!" she hollered through the hole. Turning back to the quarreling couple, she saw that it had turned into a wrestling match.
"Who does Great-Granddaughter think she is fooling?" Cologne thought to herself as she watched her heir groping and grasping all over Ukyou body. "Does she think I can't tell the difference between a hold to pin down an enemy compared to someone trying to get as many cheap feels as possible?" she thought wryly to herself. "Still, judging by the way Ukyou is going, it doesn't seem that she seems to be 'resisting' too much, although she certainly has 'attacking' down." Cologne then started as she felt a wave of power coming from far away. Somewhere a creature of unimaginable strength had been freed. Ukyou and Shampoo also stopped as they felt it too. "I suggest you two save your energy, you may need it and more." the elder woman stated to the two girls as they stood up.

Today was the day she hoped to finally be able to meet her son and husband Nodoka Saotome resolved to herself. It seems like every time she went to the Dojo, she had just missed them. Still, she never gave up hope and she knew in her heart that her son had grown to be a manly man. It would be nice to see the Tendous again, and maybe even Ranko-chan and Panda-chan would be there as well. Turning her head she noticed a green flash off in the distance. Grasping her katana in her hands, Nodoka was filled with a sense of urgency and continued on her trip to the Tendous.

The three teens and the older man gaped in wonder as the creature turned all of its gazes onto them. The creature seemed to project a mixture of feelings in them: fear, sadness, pride, wonderment and others. The heads of the creature were about twice the size of a normal human head and the hair almost looked like green seaweed. She (or if you prefer, They) had a very unnatural beauty and aura around her. Each of them could feel as if the creature was looking to their very souls as it gazed at each one in turn. Staring first at Shinnosuke's grandfather, the old man shuddered nervously as he felt like the creature was wondering how he would taste. Yet the creature's expression remained expressionless as it then took notice of Ranma. Ranma stood defiant as the creature eyed him not that the Orochi seemed either afraid or put off by the attitude. The creature expression seemed to change as the heads seemed to nod in approval.
The creature then looked at Shinnosuke, who looked back at the creature in confusion. "I've seen that face before, when I was young." the young man thought to himself. That thought caused him to start as he realized that he actually remembered something, considering the fact that his memory wasn't his strong suit. "I know you." he whispered softly which caused the Orochi to take a look of sadness and longing at the youth.
The women then put their gaze on Akane, staring deep into her eyes. Akane could feel emotions and desires emanating from her; both the promise of hope and a great fear. Akane could only wonder what the Orochi wanted, but she was sure she would soon learn.
"Maiden of Ryugenzawa," all twelve heads spoke in unison. "You have broken the enchantment on me that was cast upon me centuries ago. Yet I am still both protector and prisoner of the Spring of Life and you have not yet proven you are worthy of the gifts that it may bestow." Akane swallowed as the creature continued, "There are still several tests you and your companions must face before both of us may fulfill our destinies."
"Wait a minute!" Ranma cried out, "What kinda tests? And why does she hafta' take em'?"
"She is the Maiden of Ryugenzawa, or at least she possesses the possibility to be one. Although should she fail, I fear it will be death for her and those who take the test with her."
"WHAT?!" Ranma screamed, "No way!! Akane ain't taking any test that might get her or the rest of us killed."
"What if we were to take the test in her place?" Shinnosuke asked.
The creature shook its heads, "She has already begun taking the tests the moment she used the horn. Her very life force is tied to the completing of it, otherwise it will consume her. Also the test requires that at least one must be a female." Ranma was about to speak when the creature spoke again. "And as for your condition, while you could also take the test and be a Maiden as well, you cannot prevent this girl from taking it. Your assistance, however will be allowed and in fact is necessary as will the other boy there by your side." said the serpent lady as she motioned to Shinnosuke. "However, I am afraid you... " she said to Shinnosuke's grandfather, "...you would not survive the tests I am afraid." Moving with grace and speed that belied its size, one of the heads moved forward and clamped the old man with its mouth on his shirt.
"Grandfather!" Shinnosuke screamed.
"Shinnosuke, wait!" Akane spoke, which caused Shinnosuke to pause. "She won't hurt him, I can't explain it, but I know she wont. She's right about the other thing too, I can feel myself tied to this now." Looking at Ranma with a sad look, "I'm sorry Ranma, but we can't stop this now."
Ranma threw her an angry look, but one with mixed with concern. "Can't be helped now, can it?" he muttered darkly. Whispering quietly, "Akane... this creature has more ki than anyone I've ever sensed. She's got more than Herb, the old mummy or the letch."
Akane nodded her head in agreement as she watched the creature put the old man away some distance away. The creature looked at the old man with a kind look. "I understand your desire to help, and in fact there is something you can do to assist. I sense the presence of another one nearby. His strength and love will be needed if these three are to survive. He is just a short distance to the north. Find him and bring him here." Shinnosuke's grandfather wondered for a minute, then he remembered the bandana wearing boy that had been with them a short time ago. Nodding in agreement, he raced into the woods as fast as his old legs would take him.
Circling her heads over the three young adventurers, the Orochi spoke again "Now do not feel you are alone in this undertaking. I want you all to pass as badly as you do. Yet I am bound to do my utmost to test you. I will however, give the Maiden a bit of assistance." Looking at Akane, "I know you have met certain females in your life that you would consider strong both in body and in spirit. If they are willing, I will allow you to tap into their strength and lend it to you during this task. There is some danger to them as well, however the risk will not be fatal. However these tasks will be fatal to you and your companions should you fail."
Akane spoke in a shaky voice, "I understand, Orochi. Is there a limit to how many I can choose?"
"No, Akane." the creature replied, using her name for the first time. "They must simply be willing to lend you their strength and it will be so. Name those you feel will be willing to aid you.
Akane took a deep breath, "Ukyou Kuonji, Shampoo, Cologne." Ranma nodded in approval as she spoke as he was pretty sure despite their differences they would be willing to help.
"Anyone else?" the creature asked. Akane paused in thought for a minute, "Should I say Kodachi?" she wondered. Then she pushed that thought out of her head, not really wanting to rely on her. Her sisters were another thought, but she didn't want to get them involved in this. Then pausing a second and staring at Ranma which caused him to shift uneasily. Ranma became more nervous as he saw Akane appear to bite her lip. "Sorry Ranma," Akane spoke softly, "Nodoka Saotome."
Ranma's eyes bulged open in shock as he heard his mother's name. He wasn't even able to protest or sputter, he simply stood there like a statue. "Very well! I will use my powers to contact them to see if they wish to lend their assistance." With that four blue streams of light pierced the sky and streaked towards their destination.
Finally able to free himself from his shock, Ranma walked over to Akane and whispered angrily "Are you nuts!?! What are you thinking, dragging my mom into this?"
Akane looked back at Ranma nervously, she understood why he was angry. "I don't really have a definite answer Ranma. I just kinda felt a need for her." That response didn't seem to persuade Ranma too much, but since there was little he could do to change it he simply stood by clenching his fists.

Back at the Cat Cafe, three of the blue beams floated into the main room of the restaurant. At the time, the only ones in there were Ukyou, Shampoo, Mousse and Cologne. Ukyou and Shampoo had a look of alarm as the beams went into them, but Cologne simply stood still. Mousse looked on in shock as he saw the ladies start to glow when enveloped by the lights.
"It would appear that someone wishes to speak with us." Cologne stated with interest. The other two girls appeared to relax at Cologne's words and both sat down quietly to await what would happen next.
Sitting down on a park bench to catch her breath, Nodoka took in a deep breath and enjoyed the scenery. It was quite a lovely day out, yet she didn't feel she could enjoy it properly. Turning her head, she saw what was a blue flash fall across her body. She felt her skin tingle as it washed over her and suddenly she felt she was in two places at once. When she closed her eyes, she could picture a place she had never seen before. Before her was a lake, and by the lake were three individuals -- two males and one female. She didn't recognize the two males, but knew the female quite well.
"Akane-chan?" Nodoka spoke out.
Akane turned and looked at what was a blue ball of light. Staring into it she could see the face of her Mother-In-Law. "Yes, Auntie, it's me" Akane replied, "Hello Ukyou, Shampoo, Oba-san. Sorry for calling you and talking to you like this. Ranma and I have gotten ourselves into a fix and we were kind of hoping you'd help." stated the youngest Tendou as she looked to three other balls of light that had appeared as well.
"Ranma?" Nodoka inquired as her attention was drawn to the two boys. She focused on the closest boy, who was wearing Chinese clothes and had black hair and deep blue eyes. "Ranma!" Nodoka cried out, at last able to see her son, even if not in person.
"Hi Mom. It's really me. Sorry to drag you into this." Ranma stated as he threw Akane a dirty look, "But we got a problem here and Akane thought you could help."
Nodoka took the time to stare at her son. He was definitely everything she hoped and dreamed of physically. His frame appeared powerful and strong, and he certainly was very handsome. Nodoka certainly hoped he was able to act in a manly manner as well. Turning towards the other lights, Nodoka was able to see images of three other people. Two of them were young girls. One with brown hair and blue eyes and was about Ranma's height. The other girl was of a Chinese persuasion and had purple hair and reddish eyes. The third woman was much older and much shorter, with white hair and large eyes. The women seemed to be staring back at her, as if they were examining her as well. A sudden flash of insight struck her. "I'm not dreaming this, am I?" she said in a calm voice.
"No Mom, you ain't." Ranma said with a sad look on his face.
"Who are these other girls, Ranma?" Nodoka asked her long lost son.
"Ummm... Well, they are my other fiancée's as well mom." Ranma explained nervously as he glanced over at an Akane who seemed to be getting increasingly angrier.
"So you have two other girls as well as being engaged to Akane-chan?"
"Yeah Mom. I do." said a sheepish Ranma, "Great, now she is going to think I'm some pervert who cheats on girls."
"That's so manly!!" exclaimed Nodoka in joy, much to the shock of everyone there. "I'm going to have so many grand-children! Oh how wonderful! You've definitely become the manly son I knew you could be!" she continued as Ranma's face twitched in shock and disbelief. "I knew Genma would do everything to have you grow into a fine man. So these two girls are your concubines then?"
Shampoo and Ukyou jaws dropped in shock at the last statement, and Ranma facefaulted into the ground. Shinnosuke's eyes got big at the woman's question (but wisely remained silent). Akane said nothing, yet couldn't help but smile at her two rivals discomfort.
Cologne, however was not silent "Oh no Mrs. Saotome, these two girls are actual fiancée's. I, on the other hand, am one of his concubines." All of the girls and Shinnosuke's facefaulted at that, and Ranma shot up with a look of horror etched on his face. "Oh yes, we've been lovers for quite a while now. I've been his teacher and have been exchanging ancient secrets of Martial Arts for sexual favors!"
"WHAT!?!?" screamed Akane, while the girls in the cat cafe (along with a confused Mousse) looked at her with sick looks on their face.
"Oh dear," Nodoka stated, "but I perfectly understand, as a Martial Artist he must be willing to do all he can to learn the secrets of the Art. I hope he was able to bring you a lot of pleasure."
"IT'S A LIE!!" Ranma screamed hysterically, " A LIE! A LIE! A LIE!" he exclaimed as he ran around in circles.
The old woman cackled hysterically as she saw this, "I jest, Mrs. Saotome. I simply said that to see what kind of reaction it would get out of Muko-Dono, and quite a reaction is was!" Cologne simply smiled as Ranma glared at her with a look of rage. A loud chuckle broke their discussion as they all turned to see the serpentine creature staring at them with their multiple heads. All of the women gaped in awe at the magnificent creature. "Muko-Dono, I believe you have some explaining to do." the elder whispered quietly.
Akane explained (with the help of the Orochi) her travels and the current situation. She also introduced Shinnosuke to the others as well. After the quick breakdown the Orochi spoke "You have all been chosen by the Maiden, because she has deemed you worthy to assist her in this task. Through my power, each of you will be able to add a portion of your skill and power into the Maiden. You can only do this if you are willing and you must concentrate in order to do so. There will be a risk to you as well, however as you will also feel a portion of any pain or hurt she may experience. This is not to be taken lightly, and there is no shame in refusing. The true danger will be to these before me, as their very lives are in danger." There was a moment of silence as she allowed this to sink in. "I will give you some time to think about it" continued the Orochi "Let me know when you have made your final decisions."

"What's going on?" Mousse demanded to know, "Who were you talking to?" Shampoo and Ukyou both turned to him and started to explain the situation to him. Cologne simply stood passive until...
*I wish to speak with you.* a voice spoke into her head.
*I had a feeling you did. You want me to refuse to take the test, don't you?* Cologne thought back to the voice.
Cologne could sense she had caught the Orochi by surprise by this statement, but the voice continued: *Please understand, I mean no disrespect, but I am afraid this test was not meant for you. This task was meant for the younger ones.*
Cologne simply smiled as she replied, *None taken, however I would like to watch the tasks with your approval.*
"You cannot be serious!" came a cry from Mousse which broke Cologne's train of thought. "Why should you put yourself in danger, they're the ones that got themselves into that mess. Besides, I thought you didn't like Akane anyway!"
"It not just for Akane, Ranma also in danger!" Shampoo shouted back.
"Yeah, if we don't help out, both of them could be killed." said Ukyou
Mousse was about to say something, but hesitated. "If Ranma were to fail the task, then Shampoo would finally be mine. All I have to do is wait for a good opportunity to create an 'accident' and disrupt things." Mousse smiled back at the girls, "Well, in that case, you do what you have to. I'll simply stay back and watch."
Both girls seemed to accept that and moved away. Cologne, however read Mousse like an open book. "If you think, I am going to let you interfere in this, you are sadly mistaken." "I believe we should inform Ranma and the others of our decisions." The other girls shook in agreement and closed their eyes.

Ranma paced back and forth nervously as Akane and Shinnosuke were seated with pensive looks on their faces. Ranma hated dragging other people into some of the messes he got into, especially when it came to his fiancées. Having his mother involved into this made things that much worse. "What was Akane thinkin' gettin' Mom into this? Well I know for damn sure I ain't loosing this fight no matter what it takes!" Ranma stopped pacing as he saw the Orochi stir and stare at all of them.
"Those who would aid the Maiden have made their decisions" the she-dragon announced.
"Of course I will help you Akane-chan" spoke Nodoka
"I'm with you sugar!" Ukyou chimed in.
"Violent Girl better not blow this!" warned Shampoo
"I will not assist." said Cologne matter-of-factly.
This caught everyone listening by surprise. "What?! Why not?" demanded Ranma, "We need your help with this!"
Cologne sighed, the continued "Muko-Dono, it isn't a matter of wanting to help, its a matter of being able to help. I am a three hundred year old Amazon Elder with access to skills and power even older than that. If I were to channel even a portion of that into Akane, it would burn her out from within. I will simply be a spectator for this." Ranma kicked at the ground, clearly unhappy with that but said nothing. "Plus, I'll need to watch Mousse when he does something stupid." she thought to herself.
"So be it!" shouted the Orochi as three of the four blue spheres flew into Akane. Gasping in surprise, Akane felt her whole body begin to tingle as she felt knowledge and strength flow into her. Confidence filled Akane, as she was sure she would be able to take on any of the tasks the creature would put to her. "The First task is that of Strength!" the creature stated as she raised her twelve heads. "You must defeat me in combat!" The three teens tensed as the creature hissed at them, then several of the heads screamed a battle cry and lunged at them.

Ryouga fought thru the forest, desperately trying to find his way back when he heard a loud unearthly cry. "Akane needs me!" he thought in alarm and tried to find his way back to her.
"There you are!" came a cry. Turning around Ryouga saw Shinnosuke's grandfather standing before him, panting for breath. The older man grabbed his arm and started bolting back towards the sounds of battle.

Moko Takabisha!!!
A golden burst of ki shot from Ranma's hands, catching one of the heads point blank. The Orochi never even cried out, shocked at the suddenness of the attack. The neck that was struck dropped like a stone and some of the other heads paused for a second. Ranma allowed himself a quick smile, normally he never used such a powerful strike so soon, but he knew this fight had to be won quickly. Glancing over he saw that Shinnosuke was dealing with two of the heads as was Akane. It would appear that Akane was actually doing a little better than Shinnosuke. She was fighting with a lot more grace and the blows she was landing were strong enough to knock back whatever head was attacking her. Shinnosuke was not doing anywhere near as well, his broom had been broken by the creatures jaws and although he seemed to be very skilled he didn't have enough physical power to be affecting the Orochi that badly. He was already sporting a couple of bruises and was gasping for breath. Ranma turned and looked at the three heads in front of him, glaring at his posture, calculating how to strike. Two other heads remained back, in reserve apparently. The Orochi heads facing Ranma reared back and belched a huge gout of flame! "Yikes!" Ranma yelped as he jumped back to avoid being singed. "Great, she still breathes fire!" he exclaimed as more bursts were fired at him. Ranma hoped the other two would be able to hold their own till he was able to help.
Akane never felt more alive, she could feel the strength and adrenalin flow through her. Her movements had a fluidness and grace not seen in her before, and her punches packed strength she felt could rip through steel. She seemed to be able keep the two heads she was fighting with back. "Shinnosuke needs my help!" she thought in alarm, and with her newfound power she leapt over her two adversaries to kick at one of the heads he was fighting. Screaming with a battle cry she hurled herself at the Orochi, who seemed to turn and grin at her before Akane connected. Akane allowed herself a grin before seeing out of the corner of her eye some movement. One of the heads held in reserve had lunged as she flew, and she realized she was totally exposed. A loud crack could be heard as the creature slammed into her ribs driving her back. She could dimly hear the cries of the two boys call her name as she rolled back up assuming a defensive stance.

Ukyou and Shampoo both cried out in pain as they too felt the might of the blow. Ukyou gritted her teeth and tried to remain in her chair. Shampoo swore in Chinese, but also managed to stay seated.
"Is Clumsy Girl trying to kill us all?" Shampoo muttered aloud.
"Concentrate, Sugar." Ukyou said through pain-clenched teeth.
Mousse slowly walked up with a glass of water. "Just a few more seconds more, and then an 'accidental' spill over Shampoo should take care of this fight. A shame about Akane, but this should take care of Saotome once and for all!" thought the Master of Hidden Weapons. Walking a little closer, Mousse awaited the right moment.
"A glass of water for me. How thoughtful" came a voice from below. Mousse turned only to feel the glass get knocked out of his hand and water splashing into his face. He transformed instantly into his duck form and before he could move he felt a strong grip wrap around his throat. "How clumsy of me." Cologne spoke in a whimsical voice "Sorry about that Mousse, why don't you and I just stand back and let them concentrate on what they are doing shall we?" Mousse threw the elder woman a hateful glare and started quacking loudly.
"Quiet Mousse!" said Shampoo, "Shampoo need to focus!"
Mousse paused for a second, and then (even though in duck form) flung his chains out and started bring them down trying to make as much noise as possible. This prompted an immediate response from Cologne to apply enough pressure on his windpipe to prevent air from flowing into his duck-sized brain, which caused him to go limp. Cologne simply sighed and continued to watch the battle progressing miles away.

Nodoka screamed in agony and felt herself collapse on the ground. Although she was a very strong woman, she had never been a fighter and never faced anyone in actual combat. She felt her strength fading, as she struggled to get up. "No! I can't black out. Akane and Ranma need me."
"I say Dearie, are you all right?" a voice spoke from in front of her.
Nodoka's vision was hazy and she couldn't seem to be able to focus, so she reached her arm out to ask for help. She thought for a second she heard him gasp, as if he recognized her and she felt a small hand grasp hers. As he touched her, thoughts seem to race from her head, thoughts of Ranma and Akane and what they were facing. They seemed to flow through her and into the man that was holding her.
"Help me please." she cried weakly. She seemed to be lifted up through the air and carried somewhere. She hoped whoever this man was, he would be able to help her.

Ranma jumped by Akane's side a she staggered back while Shinnosuke guarded her other side. Akane could feel some of her strength fading as Nodoka weakened. Four of the heads charged Ranma, while three went after the Shinnosuke. "Auntie" Akane gasped weakly as she tried to clear her vision.
Ranma's eyes got wide as he head her, "Mom" he spoke in a whisper, then in a much louder voice: "Kachu Tenshin Amaguriken!!". Over five hundred punches landed in the space of a breath, causing one of the heads to collapse. Shinnosuke brought both of his hands down on one of the heads, smashing it into the ground. However the other two heads rammed into him, sending him airborne. Ranma then leapt out of the way of the second head, only to feel a sharp clamp of pain on his leg. Looking down, one of the heads had managed to bite into his left leg. Being held like that enabled the fourth snakelike appendage to get around his waist and start to constrict. Ranma collapsed on the ground as he tried desperately to escape. Hearing a scream Ranma turned and saw that one of the heads had wrapped around Akane and was lifting her up into the air. The two remaining heads followed, getting on either side of her, smoke coming out of their mouths. Akane struggled to break the grip as she felt herself rising up. She could see that two of the heads were ready to breathe on her and knew in her position there was little she could do to avoid it. She felt the other girls giving all they could to help her, but Akane didn't think it was going to be enough.
"A pity." one of the heads facing her spoke in a sad voice. "You had all done very well, but it looks like it will not be enough." Akane gritted her teeth, looking down only to see that Ranma was now pinned down by three of the creatures limbs and Shinnosuke had two on him. She could see the desperate looks in their eyes as both of them stared at her, "Oh Shinnosuke, Ranma... I'm so sorry. I needed to be stronger, but I wasn't good enough. Ranma, I never got to tell you..." Ranma's eyes got bigger, as if he somehow knew what she was thinking. A sharp intake of breath could be heard to her right. Turning her head, she stared defiantly at it, refusing to show fear.
Suddenly, an orange streak seemed to fly trough the air, striking the creature in the head! The blow was powerful enough to knock the head unconscious; Head Number Five came slamming to the earth. The orange streak didn't seem to stop as it flew back towards its point of origin. As it flew, all three watched as it flew back to the person who had thrown it. Standing in the middle of the field was a well muscled boy wearing black pants and a yellow shirt, holding the item in question -- a bamboo umbrella.
"Ryouga-kun!!" Akane cried out in joy, grateful both for the rescue and the extra help. It was good to see, no matter how badly her friend got lost, he was always there when she needed him. Everyone seemed to stay still as they all gazed on the newcomer.

Nodoka could feel the coolness of the ground as she was laid down on the grass. She was able to breathe easier as a breeze of fresh air tickled her skin as the man opened her top and took off her bra. "He must be doing that to help me breathe easier." Nodoka thought. Firm hands cupped her breasts and moved them in a circular motion, and strength seemed to flow back into her body. "Mmmmmm..." moaned Nodoka, "Oh I shouldn't enjoy this so much! This man must be a doctor of some kind, I feel so much better now. I have so much energy to give back to Akane now!" "More!! Please give me more!" she said pleadingly. The man seemed happy to comply, pinching her nipples and moving his hands all over the meaty part of her globes. Nodoka arched her back in pleasure, giving all she could for her beloved Daughter-In-Law.
Ukyou and Shampoo started fidgeting uneasily in their chairs. They were given a brief respite from the appearance of the Lost Boy, but started to feel... 'funny'. Cologne could sense some strange energy coming from Ranma's mother. "If I didn't know any better... nah, couldn't be!"
"So, the valiant Protector has come to join us I see." the creature spoke in a whimsical voice as Ryouga removed a couple of bandana's from his head. "Did you enjoy your hot bath?" it said in a teasing voice, which caused Ryouga to take a step back.
"It's about time you got hear, ya moron!" Ranma shouted to Ryouga
"So tell me young one, " continued the Orochi "why are you here? Are you hear for sport or is there another reason."
Ryouga gathered his courage and then smiled, "I couldn't let you kill my rival there." pointing at Ranma, "If anyone is going to kill him, it's going to be me."
"What nonsense." laughed the Orochi, "Your bluster is nothing but air, you have no desire whatsoever to end this boy's life, and it's doubtful you ever did. So you are trying to tell me, its for a warrior's honor then? Are you sure THIS isn't the reason?" With that the speaking head gazed at the water which caused a fountain of water to spray up. In the water could be seen the image of Ryouga talking to Ranma in a cave. Ryouga and Ranma both gasped as it was the conversation they had together when they thought Akane had left Ranma for Shinnosuke.
"It does not matter who Akane falls for, my feelings for her will never change." came Ryouga's voice from the water, "Akane is my guiding light and I will always love her. I would gladly die for her." Ryouga turned pale as a sheet, Ranma gulped nervously, and Shinnosuke stared at him. Akane gasped in shock and simply stared at Ryouga.
*Cat's out of the bag now.* Akane could hear in Ukyou's voice.
*Lost Boy can't hide feelings any more.* Shampoo thought aloud as well.
Akane felt a shiver go down her spine as she heard those thoughts. She watched as Ryouga began to shake violently and turn his gaze from her. She turned to look at Ranma, who had a mixed look of sadness and apprehension in his eyes. She thought of what she knew, or what she thought she knew of Ryouga. Always being kind to her, bringing her gifts and helping her out without question. Then she thought of how Ukyou tried to set her up with him, and how Cologne tried to push her towards him when he was doing the Breaking Point training. "It's true... Ryouga's in love with me. And Ukyou and Shampoo knew, that's why they pushed. They knew he had feelings for me." Akane thought of the time she had gone out with him to Ucchan's. He had tried to tell her something, but he had been very shy and stammered. Then Ranma showed up and acted like a jerk. "Ranma knew, so he came down to interfere. He was jealous. Jealous... and scared. He was scared that if Ryouga admitted his feelings, I would leave him for Ryouga. All the times they were fighting, it was over me." A feeling of sadness washed over her, as she looked at him now with comprehension, "Oh Ryouga-kun." she said sadly.
Depression washed over Ryouga like a tidal wave as he saw the sad look on her face. "She knows. She knows how I feel about her now! Oh please Akane, don't look at me like that!" he thought desperately. "That..." Ryouga said in a cracking voice, "...that doesn't matter! You will release Akane and the others now. Or else I will destroy you."
Ranma gulped nervously, "He's probably so depressed right now, if he does a Shi Shi Hokodan, he might take all of us out with the Orochi. But maybe I can use that if I can get free."
The Orochi smiled to herself, "How gallant, and how do you intend to make me free them? With those little pieces of cloth in your hand?"
Ryouga simply smiled back, "Why yes, as a matter of fact I do." With that, Ryouga hurled the bandana's at the faces holding Shinnosuke and Ranma. The heads yelped in pain as they were struck, even though they did little damage, they felt like bee stings to a normal person. Tensing the Orochi's grip on the boys lessened, and both of them quickly squirmed out and rolled towards Ryouga.
"Thanks Ryouga." Ranma said to his rival, "Listen, I got a plan!" and Ranma then whispered into Ryouga's ear what he wanted to do.
"Good idea, but we have to get Akane back first." Ryouga replied as he watched all of the heads still conscious regroup.
Akane tried to refocus after her newfound revelation. She began to feel her strength returning, including some energy from Auntie... and something else. It felt like something was tickling her, and she felt a lot more confident. She also felt more mischievous and a bit naughty. She looked up at the head holding her, it was close enough to reach up and touch. The head seemed to look back at her with a confused look. "What a pretty face." she said in an absentminded tone of voice. She reached up and began to caress the cheek of the girl, which caused her to moan silently and glide closer to Akane. The others watched in surprise as Akane seem to continue to massage the girl. "So pretty." as Akane glided her hand lower to the 'neck' where flesh changed to scale. Then holding her hand flat, she thrust her fingers deep into the skin. The Orochi got a look of sheer amazement, then promptly dropped. Akane leapt out of the creature's grasp, "HA HA HA, I got you! I got you!" The remaining heads hissed in rage and they tried to breathe fire at her. With immense ease Akane jumped out of the way and landed in front of the amazed boys.
Ranma shook out of his stupor first, "Well, that was easy. Ryouga, you ready?"
Ryouga looked back at Akane, who's smug look was now replaced with a mournful glance. "Oh, yes." he said in a heavy voice, "I am so very ready." With that he handed Ranma his umbrella and walked towards the creature. Ranma walked behind him, "Hey Lizard Lady!" he shouted in his most mocking manner. The Orochi's fourteen remaining eyes narrowed as he continued, "Just want ya to know, that me and my pal here are gonna have to take you out. We don't even need Akane and Shinnosuke." Ranma stopped as Ryouga continued to walk forward closer to the dragon. "Try your best to roast me, scale-face!" Ranma said as he opened the umbrella. Two of the heads lunged towards Ryouga as the rest tried to roast Ranma.
Ryouga didn't even try to dodge as both of them wrapped themselves around him. They tried to lift him up, and should have been able to do so, yet they could not budge him. "So heavy." they muttered as Ranma began moving in a circle, keeping the umbrella up to catch the flames. Soon he was right on top of Ryouga, flames licking around them.
"Sorry buddy! Hope this don't hurt too much! Hiryu Shoten Ha!!" Ranma cried out as he punched into Ryouga. Even though Ryouga was for the most part, "cold" all of the fire around them was more than enough to make a mighty hurricane. All of the remaining heads were also sucked into it.
Ryouga felt almost no pain from the punch, mostly from the agony raging in his heart. He looked down at the heads then raising his head skyward, he cried to the heavens "Shi-Shi Hokoudan!!" A blue pillar of light erupted into the sky, then came crashing down. It washed over Ryouga harmlessly; the Orochi was not so lucky, the ki smashed into the creature's remaining limbs and knocked them back into the water from which it came. The hurricane was dispersed and Ryouga began to fall back to the ground. It looked like he was just going to hit the water. "Water?" he thought, breaking out of his depression. "Nooooooo! If Akane sees me hit the water..." "Ahhhhhhh!!!" he cried as he plummeted to the ground. Then he felt his body slam into something hard. Opening his eyes, he saw Ranma had caught him with his own umbrella.
"Saved ya again, didn't I P-chan?" Ranma said with his infernal mocking grin.
"Who's P-chan!?" Ryouga bellowed as he tried to reach Ranma. This caused Ranma to shake the umbrella over the water. Ryouga cried out and gripped his umbrella tighter. "Remind me to kill you later!" swore the lost boy.
"Sure thing, Mr. P." Ranma snickered and hurled Ryouga over on dry land. The boy landed in a pile, but on dry land.
Akane and Shinnosuke ran to the two, "I'm glad you are both all right!" said Shinnosuke to the two fighters. Then with a quizzical look on his face, "Who are you two, anyway?" inquired the forgetful lad. Ranma and Ryouga just gave him an exasperated look and sighed.
"I guess we won." Akane said in a sad voice, "But with the creature gone, I don't see how we will be able to take the other tests."
"Maybe that's a good thing, Akane." Ranma replied, "That test was bad enough!"

Nodoka stirred as she was able to focus more now that she wasn't sending her energy to Akane. She could now see that her kimono top had been undone, and now nestled in-between her breasts was a two-foot nothing man in a martial arts doji giving her a very through fondling. He looked up and smiled at her, "Hello, Nodoka-chan! It's been a long time."
"Master Happosai!" cried Nodoka in surprise. "What are you doing here."
"Well, I was out doing my usual patrol of protecting the area's lingerie." he stated as he pointed at his bulging sack of purloined panties and bras. "I saw you on the bench collapse and when I went over, I recognized you! I hope you don't mind, but when I touched you I read your thoughts so I know everything that has been happening. My apologies for my actions, but I could only send you my energy this way so you could send it to Akane."
Nodoka expressed her gratitude, "Thank you so much Master! You probably saved both my son and my future daughter-in-law! You are truly a great master!"
Happosai grinned broadly, "Well, it's FINALLY nice to hear someone appreciate my assistance in these manners!"

The four sat in an uncomfortable silence, as they rested for a bit. Ryouga could feel Akane staring at him, but couldn't bring himself to meet her gaze.
*That was pretty close, sugar.* chimed Ukyou's voice, *For a second there, I thought you were going to be okonomiyaki for that snake!*
*If Akane not be so clumsy, Ranma probably take care of lizard himself.* said Shampoo in a scolding voice.
Ranma smiled to himself as he heard his other fiancées speak, "Glad to hear you two. Mom, are you all right?"
*Yes Ranma, I'm fine thanks to this fine gentleman who was able to assist me.* Nodoka replied.
*No problem dearie,* came a familiar voice, *I'm always available to give my heir and Akane-chan my help*
"Grandpa!"
"Old Man!"
*I thought I sensed something familiar. I assume you gave your 'help' through Muko-dono's mother!*
*Yes he did, without it I wouldn't have been able to hang on. But is there any reason why you are still massaging my breasts, Master Happosai?* inquired Nodoka. Both Ranma's and Akane's eyes got wide hearing that as Nodoka continued, *Hmmmm... it seems my bra has been misplaced as well during your treatment. It must be around here somewhere...*
*Oh don't worry my dear, if I find it I will be sure to return it to you.* promised Happi.
Nodoka noticed Happosai was holding something, *What's that in your hands, Master?*
*This? Oh, nothing... nothing at all... Sweeto!!*
"I'll kill him." gritted Ranma through clenched teeth. "When we get back that goat is soooo dead."
"Ranma?" said Akane in a small voice, "How come we can still hear their voices? If we defeated the Orochi, shouldn't we not be able to communicate.
"If you had actually slain me, then yes of course you would not be able to continue to speak with them." came the reply from behind them. Turning, they saw one of the heads that had not fallen back into the water. She was badly bruised and her face was swollen. Then eight of the heads burst out from the water -- completely unharmed!! The head that was hurt pulled herself into the lake, and within a few seconds re-emerged unscathed. "This is the Water of Life I am immersed in, and although your blows were mighty, it would take much more than this to actually kill me."
Staggering to their feet, the youths prepared themselves for another fight, but the Orochi simply smiled at them calmly. "There is no need to worry." she spoke soothingly, "You have passed the Test of Strength, which is the first part of your task. The second one is the Test of Heart. But first, you may replenish your strength." One of her heads went to their sides and spoke a few words. A small crater opened up and it swiftly filled up with blue, sparkling water. "Drink, this water will replenish both body and soul." All four of them walked around to the pool, never even noticing the Orochi had actually gotten behind Akane. Swiftly wrapping her body around Akane, she then lifted her away from the boys. Akane managed to yell in surprise, which got their attention.
"What are you doing, put her down!" shouted Ryouga angrily.
"Patience, it is all part of the test. I suggest you drink, the Test of Heart is more daunting than the Test of Strength." All three gave the creature a menacing glare, but with Akane held firmly in the Orochi's grasp they simply went to the water and took a drink. Power filled their aching limbs and exhaustion left their bodies as they swallowed the water. Filled with renewed vigor, they turned around and silently awaited the second test.
Akane felt a slight movement around her neck. Looking down she could see it was the necklace that had the horn attached to it. Everyone watched as it floated down, and then with a flash of light it transformed from a horn to a curved dagger. "The instructions for this test is simple," spoke the Orochi as the knife floated down and landed on a rock "One of the contestants must take their own life, otherwise it is the Maiden who must die." The boys dropped their jaws in shock as they heard the explanation, while cries of the unfairness of the test came from Akane and the other girls. The Orochi remained silent, but wrapped her coils around her hostage.
The three boys gathered quickly in a huddle. "I ain't playing this creature's game any more!" swore Ranma in a whisper. "This is what we're gonna do. Ryouga and I will blast her with our ki and Shinnosuke will grab Akane. Then we'll make a run for the forest. It's not like she can get out of the lake." The other two boys nodded in agreement and started to advance together.
"I would like to point out, before you three do something foolish..." the Orochi spoke, "... that even if you were to pull her from my grasp, she would still die." Akane suddenly turned white as a sheet and clutched at her chest. She gasped for a few seconds, as if unable to breathe, and then released as if she had gotten a second breath. "With the ritual already underway, the Maiden must complete the tasks set. Otherwise, her very life-force will be drained out of her body until she dies."
"That's not fair!" Akane screamed, "You didn't tell us that before, and besides what kind of test demands that one of the people kill themselves!"
The Orochi looked unrepentant, "That is the Test of the Heart. There are many people who have incredible gifts of physical power, but do they have the dedication to use it properly."
All three boys stared at the knife in silence as thoughts of what to do raced through their heads. "Man, it doesn't look like there is any way out of this. I don't want to die but... " Ranma looked at the scowls Ryouga and Shinnosuke had on their faces. "They are probably thinking the same thing. I can't let either of them make this choice, I gotta be the one!"
Ryouga clutched his fists in frustration, "Damn it, this is all Ranma's fault!" Thinking that put a sad smile on his face, "No, no it's not... not this time. But that made feel a little better thinking it was." Ryouga looked at Akane, then back to Ranma "I can't let Akane be hurt, and nothing would hurt her more than losing Ranma like this. At least he'll be able to take care of her after I do what needs to be done."
Shinnosuke was also lost in his own thoughts. "This is all my fault, if Akane hadn't tried to help me, she and the others would never have been in this mess. This forest is my responsibility, and I need live up to it even if it means my death." With a steely resolve he started walking over the knife. Before he could take a second step, a firm hand gripped him by the shoulder.
"And where do you think you are going?" inquired the Lost Boy in a cold voice.
"What needs to be done." said Shinnosuke in an equally still voice.
"I don't think so." chimed in Ranma, "Akane's my fiancée, and I am gonna be the one to take of this."
"That's why you CAN'T be the one, Ranma!" Shinnosuke shouted back.
"Heh, there is no way, you're going to die like that Ranma, I'll kill you first!" Ryouga shouted at his rival.
Shinnosuke slapped away Ryouga's hand and tried to go grab the blade. Ryouga grappled him from behind, which caused Ranma to leap forward. He had his hand around it, only to have it knocked away by the other two boys who jumped on top of him. Akane could only watch in horror as all three grappled with each other, kicking and punching in order to get an advantage over the other two.

Nodoka couldn't help but feel sick to her stomach. All she could do is watch as her son and his friends fought over which one would have the 'honor' to die for Akane. It made her think of her seppuku promise she had her husband make. "What a fool I was, I thought that the promise was because it showed how manly my son could be. But watching this, I see there is no honor whatsoever in it." "Oh please Orochi, stop this insanity. There must be another way!"
Ukyou had long past swallowed her pride and was in the middle of begging/crying/swearing for the fight to stop. Shampoo was quiet, but her lips were trembling. When Mousse found out what was going on, he started waving "Go Ranma!" flags which earned him Trip No. 2 into Dreamland from Cologne.
"Shampoo ashamed to say this, but she hope this one fight Ranma lose!" whispered the Amazon warrior to herself.

Ranma cried out as two fists slammed into his chest, sending him flying backwards. He landed in a pile as the other two fighters had decided to gang up on him and then decide between themselves. "How thoughtful of them." Ranma thought sarcastically. Spitting some dirt out of his mouth he looked up to see that Ryouga had made a break for the knife, but Shinnosuke had knocked him down with a flying kick. Ryouga managed to keep enough of his balance to lash out with a leg sweep that took Shinnosuke down. Ryouga then pounced on top of him, putting one his arms in a lock and pinned face down into the earth.
"Sorry about this." Ryouga said regretfully. Shinnosuke watched as Ryouga drove a finger into the ground inches from his face, "Bakusai Tenketsu!" Unable to move, Shinnosuke took the explosion point blank into his body.
Ranma gaped in shock, "Ryouga isn't usually that vicious. He must be really serious about this." Ryouga rolled his opponent over, seeing that no permanent damage was done. Sensing rather than seeing Ranma approach, he turned his head to face the Pigtailed Boy.
"It looks like this will be our last fight, Ryouga." said Ranma with regret in his voice. "I hope you don't miss me too much." With that Ranma leapt to the attack, using a flurry of punches and kicks that forced Ryouga back.
Ryouga simply sneered back as he counter-attacked, "Don't be stupid, I should be the one to die! You have people that need you! Your parents, Akane, and your other fiancées! Don't you realize how much pain you'd put them through if you die!"
Ranma hesitated for a second which enabled Ryouga to get a kick in. Ignoring the pain, Ranma shouted back "You're the one that's being stupid. I need you to help take care of them when I'm gone. I can't trust anyone else with that!" Ranma heard Ryouga grunt as a fist connected with his ribs. "Dammit, this will take forever!" thought Ranma in frustration. "C'mon piggy, piggy, piggy!" taunted Ranma. Ryouga did not take the bait, simply watching Ranma with a cool look in his eyes. "Damn! Why does he pick NOW to be the time I can't taunt him? If I can't get him mad or upset, he actually might have a shot at beating me!"
Ranma jumped back as Ryouga slammed a fist just inches away from Ranma's skull. "I still have one trick left to play though."
"Hey Tomboy!!" Ranma shouted to Akane, "Where is P-chan?"
Akane looked at him in wonder as Ryouga hesitated and looked ill. "I... I don't know Ranma. I think he must have run into the forest!"
"Shut up Ranma!" shouted Ryouga as he lunged towards him.
"You ever wonder why you've never seen Ryouga and P-chan together?" Ranma continued as a look of horror spread over Ryouga's face. Akane tried to concentrate on Ranma's question, but it was difficult because of how upset she was. "Let me tell you why Akane!"
Ryouga jumped again after his rival, fear of his secret being revealed overtaking him, never even realizing he was now moving in a circular pattern. Time seemed to stop as Ranma reached the center, "Sorry Ryouga." Ranma whispered and then shouted "Hiryu Shoten Ha!" Ryouga was flung into the air, but nowhere near as far as Ranma was expecting. "Awe Ryouga, you weren't really that angry after all as he watched as his rival landed a (reasonably) short distance away. Ranma swallowed hard, then turned towards Akane only to have a fist slam into his face. "Wows." muttered Ranma as he saw a messed-up, but still standing Shinnosuke standing between him.
"I'm afraid I can't let you hurt yourself Ranma." Shinnosuke swore as he took another swing that Ranma was able to block. "I love her as much as you and that other boy do, and I can't stand to see her get hurt." Shinnosuke began using a complex mix of punches in order to take down Ranma.
Ranma wasn't fooled however, "You're not bad, but your not in either Ryouga's class or mine. Still it would have been fun to spar against you. Kachu Tenshin Amaguriken!" Already hurt from Ryouga's attack, the multiple blows soon felled the protector of Ryugenzawa. Seeing no one left to stop him, Ranma walked over to the knife and lifted it up.
"Ranma, please don't do this." Akane pleaded
"I'm really sorry Akane, but I can't let you die and I can't let someone else die in my place." Ranma said sadly
Akane twisted in vain in the grip of the Orochi, trying to do anything to stop the sacrifice. "You can't do this Ranma. I..." she choked. Ranma paused as he watched Akane look at him with her beautiful eyes. "I love you." she managed to say, speaking the words she longed to say.
"I love you too, Akane. I loved you for a long time now, but I never realized it. Ukyou, Shampoo I know you both can hear me. Believe me it's not that I didn't care about or desire both of you, cause I did. It's just that when I'm with Akane, she makes me feel whole. I'm really sorry for leading you both on, I didn't want to hurt anyone. Believe me, you two are the best, if I coulda I would have married all three of ya!" he spoke in his typical cocky manner. Akane tried to force either a smile or a snarl, but could do neither as tears flowed freely from her eyes. Ranma took a breath before continuing, "Mom, I'm sorry I never got to show you myself in person. I only hope I've grown into a man and a son you can be proud of." Neither of the girls, nor Ranma's mother said anything, so saddened that they were unable to put words into their thoughts. Ranma took the knife in both hands and raised it upwards.
"NOOOOO!!!" cried Akane as she watched helplessly. Ranma closed his eyes and steeled himself, only to feel something blast him from behind with the power of a battering ram. Flying through the air he landed in the lake, transforming himself into his female counterpart. Sputtering as she came up, she looked to see that Ryouga had gotten behind her and used his Shi-Shi-Hokodan on Ranma. Ranma staggered to her feet, but the force of the blast made her unsteady. All she could do was stumble a little bit towards Ryouga before landing in the water again.
Ryouga picked up the knife and stared at it for a second. Then he turned to the two girls who had the most impact on his life. "Ranma, it is just for those very reasons you can't die. You have people who love you and need you, if you were to die, they would be lost without you. But me, I'm a wanderer -- an outsider. I may be missed, but they would go on without me." Ryouga then turned and looked at Akane, and for the first time without nervousness or fear spoke, "Oh Akane, you have no idea how much I've loved you. You pulled me out of the darkness that had me trapped and brought me into the light of your presence. For so long, I wanted to tell you how I felt, but I was always too weak. I wanted to be the man by your side, to be the man who helped you fulfill your dreams, then help you achieve new ones after that. But I know that it was never meant to be me, but at least now I can help you this way. I will always be with you, even in death, watching over you to keep you safe."
"R-Ryouga-kun, don't do this." Akane whimpered, but Ryouga ignored her and walked over to Ranma.
"Well, this isn't the way I pictured our duel ending, but I suppose it will have to do." said Ryouga.
"You ain't won yet." Ranma said in a whisper, then cupping her hand she scooped up some water and flung it at Ryouga.
"Wha-" Ryouga managed to get out before the cold water hit him. Akane watched as Ryouga disappeared -- no he didn't disappear -- as Akane notice a small movement in his clothes. Akane froze in shock as what appeared was her beloved pet piglet.
"P-chan?" Akane asked, even though she knew the answer already. Ryouga froze as he heard her voice and saw the look on her face. He began to shake as he saw her eyes narrow and a look of rage appear on her face. He never even notice Ranma get out of the water and pick him up by his bandana.
"Sorry Ryouga, but I never lose." Ranma said with that irritating smirk of hers. Ranma saw the fury that was on Akane's face and spoke up, "Awe... don't be like that Akane. He never meant any harm, and he didn't do it to be a pervert either. He really did love you, but was too shy about it. I'm partially responsible too, I cursed him and also kept it secret from you. I'm sorry." Akane's expression softened as she saw the look of contriteness on Ranma's face. Then Akane's face changed from sadness to alarm.
"Ranma, look out!" shouted Akane, but too late as a huge boulder smashed into her skull. Looking through a red haze of pain, Ranma saw that Shinnosuke had gotten back up.
"Dont'cha ever stay down!" Ranma cried out as boy, girl and pig again began grappling.
"I can't take this anymore!" Akane thought, "Here they are fighting each other, each one of them willing to die for my sake and what am I doing?" "No more." Akane said, "Take me."
"What was that Maiden?" inquired the Orochi as everyone stopped to listen.
"Take my life. Kill me instead! I won't have anyone die for me, I choose to be the one taken."
"So be it." declared the serpent and Akane felt it start to constrict her body.
"NO!" shouted Shinnosuke and Ranma as one, while Ryouga bwee'd in agreement. All three immediately sprang up, trying to break the creature's grip on her.
*Ukyou, Shampoo -- take care of Ranma for me, and Ryouga-kun too.* Akane could see both girls crying in her mind, but also shaking their heads in agreement. *Auntie, tell my father and my sisters I love them, and that I am with Mother now."
*I will Akane-chan.* Nodoka replied back.
Ranma and Shinnosuke tried to pull the Orochi off of Akane, while Ryouga clawed away at the scales with his hoofs. A loud *CRACK* came from Akane's body, and time seem to stand still. Then Akane felt herself falling as all three of her friends watched.
"AKANE!!" screamed Ranma as Akane hit the water.

Akane felt strangely at peace as she felt the water flowing into her open mouth. It felt cool and refreshing as it filled her and she felt no pain as she drifted lower and lower. A soft green glow slowing appeared beneath her, and she caught a little movement out of the corner of her eye. She watched as it came closer and felt someone grab a hold of her from behind. Her body was moved around and she found herself face to face with herself. Akane stared for a second before she realized it was not an exact likeness, as this Akane had green hair and eyes. "Orochi?" she asked.
"Indeed Maiden, my most heartfelt relief with you passing the second test." spoke the Orochi sweetly.
"I don't understand, I died so how could I pass?" inquired the real Akane.
"No my dear, although you were wounded, as soon as you fell into the Water of Life, the water repaired the damage done. You have also shattered part of the spell holding me, and hopefully soon I will be able to be with my beloved." With that, the mock Akane waved her hand and an image of Shinnosuke's face appeared. Akane looked at her in confusion as the Orochi continued. "For centuries I have been trapped in this form. Once I was human, although I had to be bound into the form you have seen above to protect the Water and the Moss of Life. But I was able to watch the goings of the forest and its inhabitants. I watched as I saw a young brave boy take a grievous wound for the sake of another." Another image appeared as Akane saw the time when Shinnosuke had protected her from the gigantic platypus. "When I saw that selfless action, I fell in love with him, even though at the time he was just a child. I watched him grow into a man, longing and wanting and hoping that one day the Maiden would appear to free me so that I might share my love with him."
Akane looked at the girl in front of her and smiled, "So what happens now?"
"Well, for starters, your body will have undergone some changes both physically and mentally. You will have a small portion of my power and be able to share thoughts and feelings with others. the Orochi said. "It is time for you to return. Before I do that however, allow me to inform you what the last two tests are so you aren't shocked by it..." said the Orochi.

Ukyou and Shampoo sat quietly in the restaurants, lost in their own thoughts. Mousse and Cologne watched them quietly, not wanting to interrupt them. Ukyou desperately wanted to comfort Ranma, as well as let go of some of her grief. "Poor Ran-chan, I want to be his wife, but not like this." Thoughts of all the time they spent in school together, talking and laughing. The good times and even the times they fought over Ranma. "What a waste of time, all that stupid fighting only to end like this!" Tears ran from her eyes, as she reached over and clasped Shampoo's hand, feeling a desperate need to be contact with someone -- anyone!
Shampoo felt a small sense of relief as Ukyou held her hand. Her face was still white as a ghost as thoughts flew through her mind. "I should be glad that my rival is dead, but I don't feel that way at all. She died with honor... no, she died with more than honor, she died for the man she loved. The man that I love, and..." glancing at Ukyou, "... that she loves as well. We spent so much time fighting, we never realized how much we cared for each other."
Nodoka wept bitterly in her hands, not even wondering why Ranma had changed into "Ranko". Happosai did his best to comfort her, but he too was practically overwhelmed with grief.

Ranma pulled Akane's body out of the water and laid her gently on the ground. She stared at Akane's face, eyes closed almost as if she was sleeping. P-chan kept pressing his snout against her face, as if trying to wake her up, still not believing that Akane was dead. Shinnosuke simply stared down mournfully at Akane, unable to speak. Ranma turned towards the Orochi, rage in her eyes as she stared at the serpent. The Orochi shuddered a bit at the gaze, although she felt she was far more powerful, she couldn't help but wonder if that was for certain. Shinnosuke turned his eyes to the Orochi, looking at her with sadness but no anger. The Orochi recoiled back further, the look in his eyes more damning than Ranma's.
"You..." Ranma spat with venom, "...you had no right!" Ranma clenched her fists in anger, all other thoughts being pushed aside.
Ryouga stared sadly at Akane, hoping and praying that she would get up like she always would. Apparently, someone had heard his prayer, because Akane gave a weak cough. She slowly opened her eyes and started to stir. Ryouga bleed in joy as Shinnosuke leapt up and grabbed Ranma's arm.
"Look! She's waking up! Akane is waking up!" he shouted as Ranma turned around in disbelief.
Akane sat up and gave both boys a weak smile. "I'm okay Ranma, Shinnosuke." Both boy and girl cried out in relief and hugged her. Akane could also sense relief and happiness from the other girls and Happosai as well. Ryouga simply buried himself against her, trembling and shaking incredibly yet relieved. Akane simply reveled in the touch, she could feel their warmth and love flowing through her, especially from Ranma and Ryouga. What's more she seemed to be able to sense their emotions and strength with a lot more sensitivity than she could before. She put one arm around Ranma and another around P-chan, while leaning against Shinnosuke. Ranma and Shinnosuke finally let her go as she was stood up. Looking down, she realized her piglet was still in her arms. She looked at Ranma who had a sheepish look on her face. "I should be mad at them, but I'm not. They were both willing to die for me, and I for them. If I am willing to do that, can't I learn to forgive as well? Still, I need to know the truth and I can't pamper Ryouga-kun like this." Akane simply threw Ranma a wink and a smile, which caused a look of relief to cross her face, then she lifted the pig by his bandana and looked him straight in the eye. "When we get home Ryouga-kun, we are going to have a LONG talk!" Ryouga shivered in fear and looked at her with teary eyes. She then handed him over to Shinnosuke, "Shinnosuke, can you go boil some water, and then bring him back here. Don't forget his clothes. I need to talk to Ranma alone for a bit."
"Sure thing Akane. I will be right back" spoke Shinnosuke. With that, he scooped up Ryouga's clothes and headed for the treeline.

Akane walked next to the redhead as Ranma-chan shivered. Ranma was pretty sure she was gonna get malleted for lying about Ryouga's curse. "Akane, I'm s-" Ranma's apology was cut off as Akane wrapped her arms tightly around her and kissed her deeply. Ranma-chan was shocked for a second, then began returning the kiss with passion. Akane pressed her hands against Ranma's face, cupping her chin and licking the smaller girls lips. Ranma felt memories of his time with the Tendous flow through him and into Akane, and he felt Akane's feelings and thoughts flow into him as well. *Ummm, excuse me for interrupting, but could someone explain why my son is now a girl?* asked Nodoka in a questioning voice.

"Uhh... well Mom, you see..." stammered Ranma.
"It's sort of this way, Auntie..." muttered an equally flustered Akane.
*Perhaps it would be best if Happy and I explained the situation to your mother, Ranma.* offered Cologne, to which both girls shook their heads in agreement.
"Where was I?" Akane wondered aloud, "Oh, yes..." and with that she wrapped her arms back around Ranma and went back to kissing.
Back at the Cat Cafe, bittersweet feelings were growing in Ukyou and Shampoo. Although both were relieved that Akane was still alive (even Shampoo, although she would deny it), a part of them felt like they were dying. Through the link they could almost taste Ranma's mouth in theirs, and they were able to actually feel Ranma's love... only not for them. Both knew who Ranma would choose.
"She was willing to die for him, and he was ready to do the same for her." Ukyou thought sadly, "I can't compete against that, not that it would matter anyway."
Depression was also filling Shampoo, "It's really over, he is going to choose her over me. Also Amazon law won't apply, even among our people, Akane's sacrifice and rights would be recognized over mine."
Akane felt a disturbing sensation growing in her mind which caused her to break the kiss. Ranma seemed to sense it too, as a frown appeared across her face. Something seemed to be pulling away, trying to leave them.
"Ukyou? Shampoo?" inquired Akane.
*Is okay, Akane. Shampoo know when she beaten.* Shampoo replied sadly
*She's right sugar. We know who won. Don't worry about us, I don't even think I'll be here when you get back.* responded Ukyou while trying to keep the bitterness out of her thoughts.
"NO!!" shouted Ranma-chan, "Ucchan! Shampoo! Please don't go, I don't want to lose you two!"
Akane would have normally shouted at Ranma, or even smacked him with a mallet in a situation like this, however her "near-death" experience had cooled her temper somewhat. "He cares about them so much! He was trapped by our respective arrangements, but also by the fact he didn't want to hurt any of us. But I was so blinded by my own jealousy and anger, I thought he was being a freeloading jerk. In reality, he was stuck in a situation where eventually he'd end up breaking two hearts!"
*Ukyou, Shampoo stop.* Akane communicated to the girls. *It's not about winning, it never was. I know I was just as guilty as you two of fighting over him. But believe me, Ranma -- no both of us, love you two very much. I know we bickered and fought with each other, but whenever one of us needed the others, we were always there for whoever was in need. And we won't abandon either of you. Plus, we still need all of your help in this.*

*Well spoken ladies! Besides there is no reason why you can't be concubines!* came a third response from Nodoka.
"MOM!" shouted a blushing Ranma-chan who then settled down quickly, "Um, mom... sorry about lying to you about all this."
*Oh that's quite all right Ranma, Cologne and Happosai were quite through in the explanation of what has happened. And you don't need to worry about your oath to commit seppuku. You and those other two brave boys have more than proven your manliness to me.*
"Thanks mom, I appreciate that and don't be too mad at Pop, he didn't mean any harm." said a relieved Ranma-chan.
*Oh don't worry, I won't do anything too bad to "Mister Panda" either.* chuckled Nodoka.
"Yeah, but I ain't gonna hurt Ukyou and Shampoo no more by makin' them concubines either" spoke a slightly indignant Ranma.
"Actually Ranma..." said a now nervous Akane, "That, ummm... isn't too far off from what might be happening next." Ranma threw Akane a confused look as the girl continued to blush and stammer. "Well, you see Ranma, the next tasks require energy, but the energy can only be, ummmm... cultivated a certain way." Ranma began to feel nervous, normally Akane didn't act so hesitant or unsure when explaining things. "In fact both of the next two tests will require both the energy and also certain... ingredients."
Ranma's eyes narrowed as he looked at her fiancée, "What kinda energy and what kina ingredients Akane."
"S...S...S... " Akane stammered.
"Cmon' Akane, just spill it, I can take it." Ranma said in exasperation.
"Sexual energy and..." Akane paused to gulp, "...certain fluids."
Ranma's jaw dropped in shock and judging by the silence coming from the others, it was safe to assume that they too were stunned.
"Your kiddin', right... it's just a joke right." Ranma pleaded with Akane.
Akane simply shook her head back and forth. "Actually, your energy will be quite helpful since you have both male and female organs." spoke the Orochi who had been silent until now. "The energy required to complete the ritual is that of life itself, and how else is life formed then through the act of lovemaking." This caused Ranma to blush and stammer but before he could interrupt, "I would point out that Akane's life is still tied to the completion of the ritual." This caused Ranma to close her mouth and scowl silently.
*Ummm... Even if that's the case,* said Ukyou, *How are we supposed to help?*
This caused to Akane cringe, knowing what she had to tell them, but pretty sure they wouldn't like the answer. "Well, since we are linked to each other, we will be sharing sensations and feelings. As things... happen, you will feel them also happen to you. The energy you release..." Akane paused to gulp, "...will be absorbed by the Orochi. Also any actions you might happen to do will also be added." To emphasize this, Akane reached up and played with her nipples. All the other girls shuddered as they felt Akane moved her fingers around the now swollen nubs. Ranma also shook as she felt sensations shoot through her body. "I know this is a shock to everyone, but I'm can't stop that its started. I understand if none of you want to continue, but I could still use your help."

The other girls were silent in contemplation. Ukyou and Shampoo were both nervous about the situation. They weren't exactly eager to be sharing Akane's feelings as she was doing things they'd rather be doing with Ranma. Still they wanted to help out especially if Akane was still in danger. "All right sugar, I guess you got to finish what you start, but what will we have to do?" Ukyou replied with quite a bit of nervousness.
*I don't think you'll need to worry about it too much Ukyou, I think nature is kind of going to take its own course.* said Akane telepathically.
"Shampoo not so sure she like sound of that." scowled Shampoo.
*I'm sure it will be fine Shampoo, the Orochi says this will be the easier of the tasks now.* assured Akane, *Auntie, will you be ok?*
*Oh, I am sure I will be fine, and if something happens I'm sure Master Happosai will be able to assist.*

Akane swallowed hard at that last comment, not exactly sure that Ranma would be too happy at the thought of the perverted Master near her mother. It seemed that exact thought was starting to come to Ranma as well as a scowl started to form on her pretty face. Akane decided she needed to have Ranma focus on something else, plus she did want to talk to her about something important. "Ranma?" she spoke gently.
"What is it Akane?" asked Ranma.
"About Ryouga-kun..." she began.
"Ummm, yeah about that..." Ranma stammered, "Don't be too mad at him, he never meant no harm. I understand you probably want to mallet him..."
"Thank you." Akane said cutting her off. Ranma just stared at her in confusion, allowing Akane to continue. "I hope you don't mind, but I looked at your memories when we kissed. I pretty much know what's happened in the past and I also had a chance to see myself from a different light. I know I should be angry at Ryouga, and a small part of me is, but if I had found out about it before all of this who knows what I might have done. I probably would have beaten him and then sent him away, and seeing how he tends to react, I probably never would see him again." Akane took a breath before continuing, "But not only would I have lost someone I care about, I would have taken him away from you and all the other people that care about him. I had a chance to see how I've treated you in the past -- never trusting you, calling you names, and hitting you. It's no wonder you were both scared to tell me the truth. Seeing you both willing to die for me, and nearly dying myself let me know what's really important. I love you, Ranma. I love you with all my heart and soul and nothing will ever change that." Akane reached forward and held Ranma's hands in hers. "I know Ryouga isn't a predator or a stalker. He's just a boy who got caught in a lie and allowed his own weaknesses and fears take hold of him. He used me as a light to shine away the loneliness in his life." Akane broke away and clenched her fists angrily, "I should have seen it; the gifts he would bring, how nervous he acted when I was near, how often he would help me without hesitation like when Natsume and Kurimi came. But I didn't want to see it, because all I could think of was you. Even when I went out with him, the only reason I did was because I was mad at you. I led him on without even thinking of his feelings, and yet took all that he ever gave without thinking of it." Akane turned to look at Ranma, who simply stared back at her with a thoughtful look on her face.
"Thanks, Akane. I'm sorry I let him sneak into your bed, believe me I wasn't happy about it. But I also knew he wouldn't try to do anything perverted." Ranma replied. "Heck, the guy can't even look at a pair of breasts without gettin' a nosebleed and passing out." Both girls laughed softly, then Ranma continued, "I guess a big part of me was jealous too. You never seemed to get mad at him and he always was able to make you smile. I guess I wanted it to be to make you smile like that. And I knew how much he liked you, and I was afraid he really would take away my happiness. But he ain't a bad guy either, he's even saved my life a few times."
"Well, I'm willing to forgive him, but I'm not going to let him keep blaming you for everything either. I'll have to put P-Chan on a tighter leash, which might actually be fun." Akane said with a grin. "Besides, we'll kind of need him and Shinnosuke too."

Ryouga stood up after putting his clothes back on and looked nervously at Shinnosuke. To say he was afraid was an understatement. He'd rather have fought the Orochi again then have to face Akane right now. "She'll never forgive me." he thought despondently, "Akane will tell me she hates me and that she never wants to see me again." Ryouga wondered if he should just leave now and spare both himself and Akane some serious hurt.
"Should we head back to them?" Shinnosuke inquired.
Ryouga blushed in shame as Shinnosuke reminded him of the situation. "I can't abandon Akane now. No matter what she does to me, I won't leave her in danger." "Let's head back." said Ryouga in as firm a voice as he could and together the two boys made their way to Ranma and Akane.
Ryouga tried to keep himself from shaking as he got closer to Akane. Akane fixed him with a stern gave which quickly caused him to lower his eyes. Ryouga stammered as he tried to apologize, "A-Akane-san, I'm very-"
"Look at me Ryouga-kun!" commanded Akane.
Ryouga raised his eyes as his gaze met hers. Akane's eyes blazed with a strength he never knew she had, not that he was ever able to look at her in the eyes anyway except as P-chan. "I'm really sorry Akane-san, I never wanted to hurt you. I didn't want to take away the happiness that P-chan brought you, and I didn't want to lose the joy you brought me." Ryouga could feel his old fears and uncertainty growing inside him, "It's all Ran-"
"Don't you DARE Ryouga-kun!!" Akane cut him off angrily. "Don't you dare blame Ranma for this! You didn't crawl into my bed because of Ranma! You didn't keep it a secret from me all this time or pretend to be my pet because of Ranma." Ryouga swiftly went to his knees and bowed his head in shame as Akane berated him. Akane felt bad that she had to yell at him like this, but she also knew she had to be firm for his sake. She slowly walked over to where he was kneeling and gently lifted his head back up so he could look back into his eyes. Tears were streaming from his eyes down his cheeks, as he looked back up at her. His gaze was filled with both remorse and adoration for him. "So much like P-chan." Akane thought to herself. Akane then leaned forward and kissed Ryouga on the forehead which caused him to freeze solid. Akane then bent down and looked at the surprised lost boy, giving him a soft smile. "Ryouga, I know you never wanted to hurt me even though you did do some things that were wrong. I know everything that happened between you and Ranma and understand why you were mad. It was an accident, Ryouga, he never meant to hit you into that pool." Akane paused to use her fingers to brush away his tears, "Ranma cares for you very much, all he could ask was for me not to be mad at you for lying to me. I believe deep down you care about him, I know you have saved him a number of times. I know you can ask for forgiveness, but can you find it in your heart to give it as well?" With that Akane stood up and walked away from Ryouga to let him make his decision, secretly praying he'd make the right one.
Ryouga sat deep in thought as Akane left him. He was trying to piece everything he could together as best he could as emotions ran through him. Mostly relief that Akane had been willing to forgive him yet also confusion. "Ranma told Akane not to be mad at me? Why would he do that?" Ryouga looked at his rival, expecting a look of scorn or amusement -- only to see a sad look on her face. Ryouga thought of the all the times they had fought both with Ranma; over bread or Akane or some other thing. Yet he also thought of times when he came to Ranma for help or that she need his aid. Looking back at Akane she could see him hopefully at him. Maybe it was time to put the past behind him and work to the future. Ryouga stood up and walked towards Ranma with a new sense of purpose. "Ranma," he began, "First off, I want to say I am sorry for all of the things I have done. I know we've had our differences, and I've done some bad things to you and you did some rotten things to me. But looking back now, I also see things weren't really as bad as I thought they were. I'm sorry for hunting you, and blaming you for everything. I'm sorry for all the grief I caused pretending to be P-chan. But I am not sorry for my feelings for Akane." Ryouga turned to look at Akane, feeling both joy and heartache at being able to finally express himself. Then he turned back to Ranma and continued, "I also forgive you Ranma. I forgive you for all the times you used me and insulted me. I forgive you for playing with my feelings and my heart. Most of all I forgive you for what happened at Jusenkyo. What's more I want you to forgive yourself; I want you to let go of the guilt and the pain of what you did. Whatever happens now with me and my life, I accept."
Ranma seemed to shudder as she let out a loud sigh, as if a great weight had been lifted from her shoulders. She then lifted her head up and stared directly into Ryouga's eyes, "Ryouga, I'm sorry and forgive you as well. I forgive you for all the pain you caused me, from P-chan to trying to break me up from Akane. I forgive you always attacking me and blaming me for everything. I am also sorry for all the times I pretended to be a girl and exploit your loneliness. And I'm sorry for preventing you from telling your feelings to Akane. I also thank you for all the times you have stood up for me despite our differences. From Happosai, to Herb, to the Orochi here -- you've always been here when I've needed you. I still want you in my life, as well as Shampoo and Ukyou. You're all very important to me, and I hope no matter what happens you decide to stay a part of it."
Ryouga swallowed hard and nodded his head. He still felt nervous and sad about all that had happened, but still knew things could be a lot worse. Turning to face Akane, he saw that she had a radiant smile on her face. Ryouga managed to force a smile back at her as she walked up to both boys. "I'm so proud of both of you. I know we will be able to work things out between us." and with that she kissed Ryouga on the cheek and then kissed Ranma on her cheek. Akane then opened her mouth to speak when a loud "thump" interrupted her. Looking down she saw that Ryouga had fainted, laying motionless on the ground with a huge smile on his face. Akane giggled at the site, then motioned to Shinnosuke as Ranma tried to wake up Ryouga. "I'd like to thank you too, I appreciate your sacrifice for what you did for me now and in the past. I hope I can still count on your help for the final tests."
Shinnosuke smiled shyly at Akane as she looked up at him with her brown eyes. He could feel his heart melt as he looked at her, "I-I'll help you in any way that I can Akane. I won't leave you till your tasks are completed." Akane nodded in thanks and led him back to Ranma so she could tell both boys what she needed from them.
*THUNK!*
"Ryouga-kun!" said Akane in shock as everyone gathered around the prostrate form of the Lost Boy. Blood was running from his nose freely and he had a look of absolute shock on his face. Shinnosuke was also pale from what Akane had "requested" but had managed to remain conscious. Ranma-chan grunted as she tried to get Ryouga to sit up. "Why did he faint like that?" asked Akane.
"It would appear the boy suffers from an overdeveloped sense of shyness." spoke the Orochi. "I can tell you how to stop the nosebleeding which should stop the fainting as well. But as far as getting him to 'assist' you, you will be on your own for that." The Orochi then stared at Akane for a few seconds. With a nod Akane stood over to the fallen boy and stared at his face. Taking her two forefingers she pressed down on his face right below his eyes, then she grabbed his nose with her thumb and forefinger and pulled up hard!
"OWWW!!" whined Ryouga as he jumped back up.
"Oh don't be a baby!" chided Akane. "That was to help you out." She then helped Ryouga back up and then stood as the center of attention of the two boys and Ranma.
"You may begin whenever you wish." signaled the Orochi. This caused the four teens to gulp as one as they stood shyly around each other. Although very passionate about a lot of things, expressing passion (in an erotic fashion) was not something the four youths had a lot (i.e. any) experience in.

Ukyou and Shampoo sat next to each other, able to sense the tension and nervousness of the others. Both had looks of consternation and frustration on their faces. Shampoo just looked at Ukyou and shook her head.
